Lakes
Just returned from a trip today and we hooked a few trout on the black ant and a leach pattern..Most lakes are picking up,this will continue as the days warm up...
Fathers DayBoaters Exam

This is a great time of year for all types of fishing as Migrating Salmon are arriving and the lakes are warming up.Hopefully next time i'm catching up on this Blog the Canucks wil be Stanley Cup Champions...Sam Out!!

To do list

This is the time of year to prepare your gear.
Downriggers
If you have not used your riggers for a long time;check your cable it tends to stick together because of rust causing you to lose cannonballs first time out.If your cable needs changing try the new Power Pro line, great stuff..Bring in your downriggers for a full service at P.R.O
Sounders
When sounders sit idle for a long period of time, they tend to cause you problems, check them now prior to your first trip.Any issues call P.R.O
Fishing line
Reel simple, out with the old in with the new.Dont let your old line,be the reason for losing your first fish of the year.
Rods
Check all rod guides, any issues they can be easily fixed.
O.K some areas to fish this week.
Vananda
Mark picked up a 14lb Chinook recently here 110' ona cop car coyote..Iron Mines,Grants and Harwood havw also produced lately...Most fish have been beetween 100-160' of water...
Lakes
Trout fishing has really picked up,Real simple go to your favourite lake and you will catch fish.Watch for the ant hatch this weekend.
Overall the fishing will pick up so dont delay cast away..Sam Out!

Well its nice to see the new harbour taking shape (Photo).Mid June is the projected opening, then you will see many boats chasing there dreams..Here we go...
Salmon Fishing
This past weekend the Salmon fishing was maybe a 7 out of 10.Jamie and Keith picked up two 17lb Chinooks @ The Iron mines. Not to be outdone Daniel fished infront of Westview and landed an eighteen pounder...Ron and Larry headed to Backside of Harwood and took home a 10lb Chinook as well...As you can see there are fish around, probably more fish than anglers. This will change ounce the Harbour is completed,so get your gear ready..Most fish were hooked at 100-150' of water, using hoochies and spoons..
Scotty Downriggers
If you own a scotty downrigger drop it off at P.R.O. for a full service and we will have you ready for prime time...Beat the rush!
Crab's
Good reports on Crab production,so shake the dust off your trap and head to Harwood..Remember to release females...
Local Lakes
The trout were biting this past weekend,Tony,Inland,Horseshoe,Ireland and Duck all seem to be producing nice fish...Anything from a dry fly to a bobber and worm will do the trick..Reak simple,if you want trout head out!Stay tuned for the black ant hatch....

MAY MADNESS

Lots happening in Powell Rivers Outdoors..Commercial Prawners out and about,Wolves doing there thing and another Grizzly spotted in our backwoods..
Prawns
We will now in a few weeks how the commercial prawners are doing. Its still early to ge an indication of numbers as there is still some changes in trap placement in order to find the current habitat..Sport prawners have reported mixed reviews. Some doing good and some not so good, wich is normal for this time of year...
Salmon
This fishery has been tough to report on basically because of the lack of anglers out. This due to there being no proper boat launch in Powell River...Killer Whales have been in town going on three weeks,I had them all around my boat this pat weekend, needless t say the bite was off. This large Pod has been feeding on local seals and sea lions as some customers witnessed..They won't go hungry in Powell River, thats why they are still here...They have a few calves wth them wich is nice to see.....
Bears
In the last week many more bears out and about and, with a Grizzly being spotted by a local seasoned hunter. This one a healthy Brear about 40 minutes from town,it had the trademark hump and freddy Kruger claws...
L.E.H.
Still a couple weeks to get your Limited Entry Hunting tags in stop by and get it done!
Ling Cod/Rock Cod
This fishery is wide open in Powell River.I had a great day with my buddy Mark this past weekend. Many Lings over 10lbs with the bigest weighing in at just over twenty(photo) wich we released..Of course the Hiro lure is the trick...Stop by and pick one up and have a look at some other photo's...
Firearms Course Another course coming up this month stop in and sign up,and recieve the ticket to bare arms....Any questions call 604-485-2555
Canucks,slayed the sabertooth.....Sam Out
